Eric Porter (1928-1995) was a great classical theatre actor who was active from 1945 to 1995. Well-known for his strength acting in main parts as King Lear and The Merchant of Venice.

Worldwide famous for his part of Soames Forsyte in The Forsyte Saga 1967 and as Pr Moriarty opposite Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes etc...This is the only biography about him as Helen Monk and whole family was her friend in his late years. He asked her to be his biograph as she was a school teacher born 1947 in Derbyshire. This book is both an accurate bio and the story of a true friendship
